Sequoia Village
Sequoia Village is a former 50-unit motel in Visalia, California, converted to 50 permanent supportive efficiency apartments for individuals and families at risk of homelessness, The units are complete with kitchens, and five units are ADA mobility accessible.
The units are made affordable through operating subsidies provided by the Kings/Tulare Homeless Alliance and services are offered on-site by Tulare County Mental Health and RH Community Builders.
Qualifications
Referred applicants that are eligible to rent a unit dedicated at Sequoia Village include economically insecure individuals, those suffering from physical or mental disabilities, and persons who are in need of mental health services and are experiencing homelessness, chronic homelessness, or at risk of chronic homelessness. Each funding source defines who is eligible to live at Sequoia Village:
Continuum of Care (CoC) Program Referrals

● An individual or family who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence
● An individual or family who will imminently lose their primary nighttime residence
● Unaccompanied youth under 25 years of age, or families with children and youth who do not
otherwise qualify as homeless
● Any individual who is:
○ Fleeing, or attempting to flee, domestic violence; Has no other residence; or
○ Lacks the resources or support networks to obtain permanent housing
